Search Engine Ranking

Top page ranking on search engines is important to everyone.  The higher you are, the more customers come to your website, and in return generate sales.  So let's look at the top things that impact your search engine ranking.  To help understand how important they are I will use a points system.  1 Point = very little impact on ranking, 10 Points = huge impact on ranking.

1.  Incoming Links:  This is a link on another website that points to your website.  Here are the tips when getting a link from another site.

• Generic Link on Generic website:  www.edirecthost.com   (3 Points)
• Generic Link on website similar to yours, in same industry:  www.edirecthost.com (5 Points)
• Keyword Link on Generice Website:  ecommerce website builder  (5 Points)
• Keyword Link on similar industry website:  ecommerce website builder  (7 Points)

2.  Blog Reviews:  This would be someone on another website writing a blog about your website products or services provided.

• Blog on Generic Website with no links:  (0 Points)
• Blog on Generic Website with generic link: (3 Points)
• Blog on Generic Website with keyword link: (5 Points)
• Blog on Industry Website with keyword link: (7 Points)

3.  Business Listings:  This would be a listing on a website that provides the end user with you business products, services, location, hours, reviews and so on.  Here is a list of site you HAVE to be listed on.

• Google Places (5 Points)
• Microsoft / Bing Business Listing (4 Points)
• Yahoo Local Listings (4 Points)
• Yelp.com (4 Points)
• Better Business Bureau (4 Points)
• DMOZ (4 Points)

4.  Social Networking:  Yes it's time to create a facebook and twitter account.  Use these social networks to promote your business to your friends and family.  Once they start to promote your business as well then that's when it starts to help.

• Facebook Account with a link to your website: (3 Points)
• Facebook Account with comments about your site which are then shared by other facebook accounts: (5 Points)
• Twitter Account with link and comments: (3 Points)

5.  Reviews:  Using what you created in #3, you now need to promote these links to your customers for good reviews.

• 5 to 10 reviews on Google Places (5 Points) and (8 Points) for local searches.

Most of the items listed to the left require you to create, link and fine tune your listings but we can help each other with some items.

1.  Social Network:  Make sure you add the Facebook, Twitter, and Google +1 links in the Quick Links bar on the top of your website.

2.  Go to each others site and Share, Tweet, or +1 the site.

3.  Go to each others listings in Google Places, and Yelp to leave positive reviews.  In order to do this you will need to create a page on your site with links to all of these and then share that link with us.  We will go to the link and review your site and in return you can review our site.  Here are the links to our listings for reviews.

• eDirectHost Yelp Review Once you go to this page you will see the write a reveiw option.

• For Google + 1 please go to our ecommerce page or home page and then click on the +1  (It is Page Specific)

• For Facebook please go to our ecommerce page or home page and then click on the "send" button in the top quick links bar.
